Wallace J. Green
Wallace J. Green, 90, Columbia City, passed away at 4:44 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, at his home. Born April 4, 1926, in Allen County, he was the son of Grover L. and Zella M. (Bice) Green.
Wally graduated from Huntertown High School with the Class of 1944. Following high school he served during WWII with the U.S. Army. On April 17, 1948, he married Dolores M. McCoy. He worked at Phelps Dodge’s Indiana Rod and Wire Division, Fort Wayne, with 41 years of service, retiring in 1988 and was a delivery man for T and J Coffee for 13 years. He was a member of Columbia City United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge Sol D. Bayless Lodge #359 and American Legion Post 98.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years: Dee Green; daughter: Becky (James) Richard, Nazareth, Pa.; sons: Gary (Melissa) Green, Columbia City; and Toby (Linda) Green, Columbia City; sister: Ruth Egolf, North Manchester; brother: Russell (Betty) Green, Columbia City; grandchildren: Tracy Snoke; Melissa Miller; Ashley Little; Tyler Green; Corey Green; Nathan Green; and Emily Hasty; 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Bennie Green; sister: Evelyn Fry; and great-grandchildren: Abigail Little; and Teddy Wallace Green.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, Columbia City. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the funeral home with Pastor David Arnold of Columbia City United Methodist Church officiating. Entombment will follow at Covington Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Forrest Tabor of Heartland Hospice officiating.
