Homecoming Week Sept. 26-30 At Wawasee High School
SYRACUSE — Leaves changing colors, farm crops being harvested and cooler temperatures are typical signs of the fall season. And so is homecoming week at Wawasee High School.
During the week of Sept. 26 the high school will be celebrating homecoming with several activities. Monday is Get Up And Go Monday, then Twin Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, Technicolor Thursday and Era Day Friday. On Friday it’s Warriors Through The Decades with the senior class donning attire of the 1980s, juniors the 1990s, sophomores the 1950s, freshmen the 1960s and faculty/staff the 1970s.
Penny wars will be held each day and proceeds will benefit Feed The Children, a hunger relief organization. The Warrior talent show is from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the high school auditorium. Capture The Flag is at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the annex gym. Class color day is Thursday and Friday will have the Wawasee-Warsaw football game kicking off at 7 p.m. with a dance to follow. Homecoming king and queen will be crowned at halftime of the football game.
Also Friday, after several years the homecoming parade will be resurrected at least for one year and will start at about 4:30 p.m. at the Syracuse Community Center. It will make its way down Main Street and eventually cross the railroad tracks and follow Syracuse-Webster Road where it will end in the high school parking lot.
The parade is being done in conjunction with the Indiana Bicentennial celebration.
