Warsaw Volleyball: Tigers Ready To Think Pink
WARSAW – The Warsaw volleyball program will be in its “Think Pink” mode come its next home match.
The trio of outstanding Tiger teams are set to host their annual Pink Out matches when conference foe Concord comes calling next Thursday night.
The yearly event is designed to raise money and create awareness for cancer research.
There will be several activities associated with the worthwhile venture. All Warsaw elementary and middle school volleyball players will be admitted free of charge if they wear their volleyball jersey to the match.
There will also be pink mini-volleyballs for sale for $2 each. A silent auction, featuring baskets designed by the Warsaw varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams, will also be conducted.
Fans may also sign cards for those they know who are battling cancer for a Wall of Hope at the match. There will also be a bake sale with many tasty treats for sale.
The Warsaw varsity team, directed by first-year coach Rick Ashmore, is still in contention for a Northern Lakes Conference title. The Tigers will take a 17-11 overall mark and a 5-1 record in NLC play into the final league match versus Concord.
The Tiger junior varsity team, coached by former Warsaw star athlete Chandra Hepler, is 17-2 overall and 5-1 in league play.
The freshman team, coached by James Schmidt, sits at a perfect 23-0 overall and 6-0 in the NLC on the season.
The JV and freshman matches for the Pink Out Night will both begin at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 6 with the frosh playing in the Career Center Gym. The varsity match will follow the JV contest in the Tiger Den.
