Ethel Blanche Overmyer
Ethel Blanche Overmyer, 88, Argos, passed away peacefully at 1:15 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016 surrounded by family.
Ethel was born on April 15, 1928, in Winamac, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Jacobs) Cooper. On Dec. 25, 1947, she married Wilbur Overmyer and he passed away Oct. 13, 1976.
She is survived by three children: Diana Nieb of Argos; Michael (Linda Rae) of Lapaz; and Judy (Tony) Campbell of Hazard, Ky. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and six great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Shirley Overmyer, son, Ralph Overmyer and siblings, Henry Copper, Alice Schuh, Mable Johnson, and Dorothy Cannon.
Ethel graduated from Monterey High School and worked on the nursing field for over 30 years in local nursing homes, including the former Landis Nursing Home in Argos and Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home in Plymouth.
A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, Oct. 22, in Argos United Methodist Church, 570 N. Michigan St., Argos. Visitation will be held from 10-noon, Saturday, in the church prior to the service. Rev. Heather Foley will officiate. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos.
