Local Couple Found After Missing For Two and 1/2 Years
PIERCETON — On Tuesday, Oct. 25, the two adults that have been missing for 2 1/2 years from Indiana were located alive in Jackson County North Carolina.
Amanda Owens, 29, Warsaw, and Jeramiah Eckert, 36, Pierceton, have been missing since April 2014. Owens was reported missing by her parents on June 6, 2014, to the Warsaw Police Department, and Eckert was reported missing by his mother on Oct. 12, to the Pierceton Police Department.
After two weeks of extensive investigation by the Pierceton Police Department the two were located in North Carolina, living in the small community of Whittier. Pierceton Officer Tim Sammons reports Owens has now been reunited with her family from Indiana. Eckert will be returned back to Indiana within the next few days to clear up pending criminal charges in Kosciusko County.
Sammons stated that he is very pleased with the outcome of the investigation and is happy that each family can now have closure. It is unfortunate that other missing person cases do not end positive, especially after two and half years. However, this case might bring hope to other families who are still waiting to have their love ones returned home. The case was cleared by the use of “old fashion” police investigation and with the aid of modern comprehensive law enforcement databases.
Sammons would like to thank others behind the scene who helped the Pierceton Police with the investigation, the Kosciusko County 911 Communication Center Dispatchers, Warsaw Police, Indiana State Police-Bremen Post, North Carolina DMV and the Jackson County North Carolina Sheriff’s Office.
