Grace College to Host Conference on Mission
WINONA LAKE — Grace College will host its annual Conference on Mission Tuesday, Nov. 1, through Friday, Nov. 4. Since 1960, Grace has welcomed missionaries to campus for this special annual event. Guest speakers, seminars and other events will take place throughout the week with a focus on God’s plan for mankind both locally and globally. The public is welcomed to attend.
“The purpose of this year’s Conference on Mission is to help students see God’s vision for reaching the world no matter where they are or what job they have,” said Brent Mencarelli, dean of undergraduate chapel and community life at Grace College. “Our conference theme mirrors our 2016-17 campus theme: CORE. As we study what is at the heart of our Christian faith this year, we hope students will see the value of mission work both locally and globally, as each are part of the ‘core’ of Christianity,” he said.
Conference on Mission seminars will be held from 9:15 – 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday, from 1:30 – 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday and from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and 9:15 – 10 p.m on Thursday. Guest speakers include Ed Gersch from Athletes in Action, Rick Smith from Biblical Ministries Worldwide, Doug Schaible from New Tribes Mission, Kirsten Lynch from CMF International, Dave and Susie Hobert from Encompass World Partners and many others. More than 50 missionaries representing over 30 mission organizations will participate.
Chapel will be held from 10:30 – 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in the Manahan Orthopaedic Captial Center, 610 Wooster Road, Winona Lake. A 24-hour day of prayer will take place in McClain Hall beginning at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday concluding at 2:30 p.m Thursday. A dessert social with missionaries will be held from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in Westminster Hall.
