Northridge, Concord Early Leaders In NLC All-Sport Races
GOSHEN – Northridge’s girls and Concord’s boys are the early clubhouse leaders in the 2016-17 Northern Lakes Conference All-Sports tallies.
Northridge won the girls soccer title with an undefeated run, finished second in cross country, tied for second in volleyball and tied for third in golf in an impressive fall run. The Lady Raiders have 53 points thus far, but are just one point ahead of Concord’s 52 after a title in volleyball, a resurgence to second in golf, third in cross country and fourth in soccer. Warsaw’s title in cross country and second-place finish in girls soccer led the Lady Tigers to 50 points to make a three-team logjam at the top.
NorthWood, behind its golf title, is fourth at 34, followed by Plymouth (33), Goshen (24), Elkhart Memorial (22) and Wawasee (20).
The Concord boys rode the wave of titles in both soccer and tennis, as well as a second-place tie in football and third place in cross country to sit at 57 points, 10 points clear of Goshen in second place at 47 points. Warsaw is at 46 points after rallying to win the NLC meet in cross country to tie Northridge for the trophy, the Raiders winning the regular season round robin.
Plymouth is fourth at 38, Northridge fifth at 35, NorthWood’s undefeated title in football helping the Panthers to sixth at 27, with Wawasee (21) and Elkhart Memorial (17) bringing up the remainder.
