Warsaw Man Stole Metal Worth $1,605 From Menards
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested for stealing metal panels worth $1605.80 from Menards after he requested a refund but still received the product.
Bradley Alan Sroufe, 32, 721 West Jefferson St., Warsaw, was arrested for theft, a level 6 felony.
On Aug. 23 officers with the Warsaw Police Department responded to a theft call at Menards. Upon arriving, a Menards employee advised that on Jan. 28, Sroufe requested a purchase order for forty-five metal panels. The items were scheduled to arrive on Feb. 7. Sroufe paid $1,605.80 for the purchase.
On Feb. 5, before Sroufe received the order he requested to return the metal and received the money back. On Feb. 6 Sroufe went to Menards and the entire order of metal was loaded onto Sroufe’s trailer even though he had received a refund for the cost of the materials.
Surveillance video of Sroufe receiving the metal was provided to the police department. When officers contacted Sroufe about the scheme Sroufe stated he would look into the incident and contact Menards, but never did.
Menards employees advised they found out that Sroufe had used the same scheme at Menards on other occasions.
Sroufe was arrested on a warrant and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Oct. 31 with a $4,500 surety bond.
