Tippecanoe Man Arrested For Selling Stolen Firearm
WARSAW — A Tippecanoe man has been arrested after selling a stolen firearm in an Owen’s parking lot to an individual who legally could not possess a firearm.
Nicholas Andrew Irvine, 23, 3073 Center St., Tippecanoe, is being charged with count I criminal transfer of a firearm, a level 5 felony; count II carrying a handgun without a license, a class A misdemeanor; and count IIA carrying a handgun without a license, a level 5 felony.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on June 15, an individual who is a convicted felon met with Irvine in an Owen’s parking lot to purchase a handgun.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the individual gave Irvine $250 in exchange for a Hi-Point .380 caliber, model CR 380 handgun.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the individual explained to Irvine that he was a felon and could not purchase bullets. The individual asked about obtaining additional bullets for the gun. Irvine suggested he could provide additional bullets by purchasing them through his mother.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, an officer discovered the Bluffton Police Department had reported the gun had been stolen in its jurisdiction in 2010.
Irvine was convicted of possession of two or more chemical reagents or precursors with intent to manufacture a substance, a level 6 felon, on Feb. 8. Irvine cannot legally possess a handgun permit while being a convicted felon.
Irvine was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Nov. 2, on a bond of $10,250 surety and cash.
