Woman Gives Birth In Hospital Parking Lot, Billed For Delivery Room Services
BOCA RATON, FLA. — A Florida Hospital is billing a new mother for a delivery room birth — even though she never made it in the door.
The woman and her husband didn’t plan on giving birth in the parking lot, but the baby girl was crowning as the couple drove up.
Her husband caught the baby’s head and nurses ran out to help with the rest of the delivery, which took place in the fire lane outside Boca Raton Regional Hospital.
Seven months later, they got a bill for more than $7,000. That’s the full delivery room fee.
The couple planned for the birthing costs but thought that since they never made it to the delivery room, they figured the hospital would adjust the bill.
“I knew that I was responsible for $5,000, I get it, I’m going to pay the bill, that’s not the issue,” said Paula D’Amore. “I look at this delivery charge and I think that’s a little outrageous.”
So far, the hospital isn’t commenting on the case.
