Eva B. Green
Eva B. Green, 89, Rochester, went home to be with Jesus at 1:07 p.m., Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, at Hickory Creek of Rochester.
She was preceded by her husband Calvin and treasured son, John, as well as other family members.
On July 13, 1927, Eva Bernice Mathews was born in Rochester. She was the cherished daughter of Herman Gail and Helen Esther Miller Mathews. Growing up in Fulton County, she shared her childhood with three sisters and a brother. Eva was the second oldest, helping to look out for her younger brothers and sisters.
In Rochester, Dec. 29, 1943, Eva married the love of her life, Calvin L. Green. They shared nearly 52 years of life’s adventures. From their union came five wonderful children. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings 26 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
A woman of strong faith, Eva was very active in the Tiosa Brethren Church. Most recently she attended the Riverview Community Church. Eva loved a good game of bingo and played three times each week at the senior center.
Talented with her handiwork, Eva enjoyed ceramics, and sewing. Often she shared her creations with family and special friends. Spending time with the Talma Home Economics Club members was always a good time.
Left to cherish Eva’s memory are by two daughters: Sandy Gunnels and husband Jim, Mentone; Judy Duncan and husband Phil; two sons: Gary Green and wife Susan; and Barry Green and wife Schenna, all of Rochester; a sister, Connie Brown of Logansport; a brother, John Mathews and wife Jeri of Bossier City, La.
Preceding Eva in death are her parents; husband Calvin; son, John Green; an infant great grandson, Garret Keith Wagoner; an infant great-great granddaughter, Genna L. Snelling; and two sisters: Mary Jane McIntire, Shirley Fisher.
Pastor Rod Ruberg will officiate services. Interment will be in the Reichter Cemetery, north east of Rochester.
