Hilda S. Earnhart
Hilda S. Earnhart, 98, Syracuse and formerly of Pierceton, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse.
She was born Aug. 22, 1918 in Wilmot to John William and Sadie C. (Beezley) Scott.
She grew up in Noble County, attended Washington Township Public School, and lived most of her life in the Pierceton area before moving to Waterford Crossing in Goshen. She was married on May 12, 1941 in Pierceton to Hollis F. Earnhart who preceded her July 28, 1983. She retired from the Whitko School Corporation where she was a custodian at Pierceton School for 32 years.
She was a member of the Salem Community Church in Wilmot and Fairfield Extension Homemakers in Goshen and former member of the Order of Eastern Star & Fire Dept. Auxiliary both in Pierceton.
She is survived by two sons: Gary (Beverly) Earnhart, Goshen; Roger Earnhart, Mason, Ohio; four grandchildren: Roberta (Jeff) Yoder, West Liberty, Ohio; Steven (Lisa) Earnhart, Indianapolis; Anita (Duane) Wilson, Plymouth; and Rae Elin Earnhart Sneery, Dunkirk; 12 great grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; a sister: Carol Engle, Yucaipa, Calif.; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters: Ilah Roberts, Betty Knecht; and three brothers: Charles “Cy”, Paul “Chub”, and James Scott.
Visitation will be from 5–8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd 13 & CR 500N, North Webster. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16 in the funeral home with Pastor Gary Colby of the church officiating. Burial will follow at the Sparta Cemetery in Kimmell.
