Triton Basketball: Trojans Ice Cold In Loss
BOURBON – It was a tough night on the basketball court for the Triton lady hoopsters.
Bremen shot just 28 percent for the game, but Triton didn’t manage more than eight points in a quarter in a 32-18 girls basketball loss Tuesday night at The Trench.
Triton shot just 25 percent in the game (8-32) and was a dismal 1-12 from behind the three-point line. The Lady Trojans also attempted just two free throws in the game. Making matters worse for Triton were 17 turnovers, to which Bremen turned around for 12 points.
Bremen held a 15-7 lead at the half, holding Triton to just one basket in the second quarter, and while Triton came back with its eight-point third, Bremen extended its lead to nine at 24-15 after 24 minutes.
Kaitlin Bailey led Triton with six points and six rebounds while Courtney Jennings had five points. Triton’s top two scorers, Nicole Sechrist and Hannah Wanemacher, were a combined 0-8 and had no points but offered 10 total rebounds.
Bremen was led by 12 points from Erin Coffel and eight points, six boards and three steals by Karlee Feldman. The Lady Lions weren’t much better shooting the ball (11-40), but hit four threes and were 6-10 from the free throw line.
Triton won the JV contest 23-8, led by Abigail Powell’s eight points.
Triton (1-3) will host Plymouth Thursday night while Bremen (4-1) will also play Thursday night at Penn.
