Charles Elden Yohe
Charles Elden Yohe, 97, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 3:40 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, 2016 at Wellbrooke of Wabash in Wabash, Indiana. He was born to the late Harry G. and Lydia (Isenbargar) Yohe on Sept. 19, 1919 in Arcanum, Ohio.
Elden graduated from Monroe Township High School in Ohio in 1937, he attended Manchester College and then graduated with the Cum Laude Honors from Ohio State University in 1942. Charles Elden Yohe married Ermajean Hollar on March 17, 1946 in Nappanee, Indiana, she passed away at 3:40 p.m. on Nov. 18, 2002; then he married Jewell Weaver on April 30, 2005, she survives in Wabash, Indiana.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Wabash, Indiana. Elden was Owner of Yohe Reality Inc. for 40 years, he retired in July of 2016. Elden was the first flying cowboy to fly heifers to Venezuela, he taught first aid forestry and fire fighting in the Brethren Volunteer Service, he was the first executive director of Wabash Market Place, and served on the Wabash City School Board, he was president from 1969 to 1972. He loved to fish and plant trees. Elden planted and took care of the rose bushes that surrounded the Lincoln Statue for years in Wabash, Indiana.
He is also survived by sons, Lynn Yohe (Sharon) of Wabash, Indiana, Daniel Yohe (Therese) in North Carolina, and Timothy Yohe of Wabash, Indiana; daughter, Marilee (Phil) Ferguson of Indianapolis, Indiana; step daughter, Nancie (Kevin) Meyer of Corvallis, Oregon; sister, Luella McLear of Greenville, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Elden was preceded in death by a son, David Yohe and daughter in law, Bev Yohe, and a brother, Winston; along with his parents and first wife, Jean.
Funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Rev. Phillip Lake officiating. A private burial will be at a later date. Preferred memorials are directed to Muscular Dystrophy Association or Christ United Methodist Church.
