Wawasee Basketball: Early Stumbles At Angola
ANGOLA – Falling behind quickly, Wawasee couldn’t recover in a 52-34 loss at Angola Saturday night in boys basketball.
Angola took a modest 11-6 lead after the first quarter, but the Hornets held the Warriors to just a single bucket in the second quarter while building a 25-8 halftime lead.
Braxton Meek paced Angola (1-0) with 15 points and Myles Turner turned in 12 points and seven rebounds. Jake Honer added 11 points for the home side.
Trevon Coleman led all scorers with 17 points, but the Warriors’ 4-14 shooting performance in the first half, including 0-5 from deep, sent Wawasee to its first loss.
Tyler Smith had seven points and Bennett Hoffert six points for the Warriors (1-1).
The Wawasee JV beat Angola 34-24, led by Dalton Pearish’s six points and five players with five points each.
Wawasee will next head down to Manchester Friday night.
