Cromwell Man Sentenced for Writing Fraudulent Checks
WARSAW — A Cromwell man was sentenced this morning, Nov. 28 after writing four fraudulent checks in June.
Raymond William Grevenstuk, 20, 9573 N. Sandpoint Drive, Cromwell, was charged with 6 counts of forgery, all level 6 felonies.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Grevenstuk wrote four different checks to Wilby’s for a total of $190.30. All of the checks were signed with the name of Dennis Darr and returned for insufficient funds. Grevenstuk attempted to pay with a fraudulent check one more time but was denied.
During the sentencing, Grevenstuk pled guilty to two counts of forgery, both level 6 felonies. Four counts of forgery were dropped according to a plea agreement.
Grevenstuk had no comments for the court when Judge Michael Reed addressed him.
The judge sentenced Grevenstuk to one year served at the Kosciusko County Jail on both counts, to be served at the same time. Grevenstuk received 250 days good time credit for time served.
