All-NLC Football Follows NorthWood State Run
GOSHEN – The close of the 2016 high school football season this past weekend saw six state champions crowned and six teams as proud runners-up. Among the 12 teams playing in the state finals was NorthWood in the Class 4-A championship. The Panthers finished on the short end of a 34-22 loss to Indianapolis Roncalli.
The Northern Lakes Conference kept its All-NLC selections under wraps until all of its members were done with the state tournament, and with the conclusion of the state finals, the list was released this week.
The 7-0 Panthers had eight named All-NLC in Payton Bear, Trey Bilinski, Andrew Miller, Drew Minnich, Caleb Newcomer, DeAndre Smart, Brayton Yoder and Bronson Yoder. Three more were named Honorable Mention All-NLC in Will Ingle, Micah Lehman and Dylan Miller.
Concord and Goshen each finished 5-2. The RedHawks had Dylan Back, CJ Detweiler, Rummel Johnson, Alec Lehr, Jeff Stoll and Steven Worlds named All-NLC and Salomon Faustino, Diego Garcia and Taylor Glasgow as Honorable Mention All-NLC. The Minutemen had Josh Gorball, Jack Lietzan, Grant Magnuson, Cedric Mitchell and Kaelen Taylor named All-NLC and Dominick DeBroka, Brady Reed and Chance Wilson as Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Warsaw was 4-3 and had Jeremy David, Michael Jensen, Andrew Mevis and D’Andre Street named All-NLC and Mason Faas and Will McGarvey as Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Plymouth finished 3-4 and had Kaleb Koss, Nate LaFree and Tristen McMillen named All-NLC and Jorge Quintana and Colten Schuler as Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Northridge and Wawasee each finished 2-5. The Warriors had Paul Mendoza, Tyler Smith and Elisha Tipping named All-NLC and Trevor Harter as Honorable Mention All-NLC. The Raiders had Connor Graber and Jackson Jacobs named All-NLC and Mason Troyer as Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Elkhart Memorial was 0-7 and had Mark Brownlee and Nolan Grose named All-NLC and Nathan Williams was Honorable Mention All-NLC.
