Baby Born On Southwest Flight To Orlando
CHARLESTON, S.C. — An Orlando-bound Southwest plane from Philadelphia was diverted to Charleston after a woman went into labor Sunday afternoon.
Passengers say the flight crew asked for any doctors or nurses onboard the plane go to the front row.
Southwest Airlines says onboard medical personnel successfully delivered the 26-week-old baby boy.
The plane then diverted to Charleston where rescue crews met the baby and new parents to transport them to a local hospital.
Passengers applauded the family and onboard medical personnel.
The plane continued on to Orlando after the diversion.
