LCA Basketball: Ladies Steal A Victory
SOUTH BEND – The Lakeland Christian Academy girls basketball team “stole” a win Saturday.
In a good way of course.
The Cougars came up with an incredible 32 steals on defense to edge past host South Bend Trinity for a 49-47 victory.
Melissa Goss paced the sure-handed winners with nine steals in the win. Hope Fancil came up with eight steals and Anna Reimink nabbed six for the Cougars.
Fancil continued her outstanding offensive production of late with a game-high 24 points to pace LCA. She also had four rebounds to go with three assists and a pair of blocked shots.
Heather Plastow netted seven points and Reimink scored six to go with seven rebounds. Goss and Brady Gross each had four points, while Maddie Paris and Jess Slone each scored two. Slone grabbed eight rebounds and Gross seven in the win. Gross also had four steals, while Paris and Slone each had a pair and Winnie Kyandaluba added one.
LCA, which improves to 5-6, will play in the Bethany Christian Tournament on Dec. 17. Trinity, which falls to 0-3, will play at LaLumiere on Tuesday night.
