Valley Swimming: Viking Ship On Course
AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley earned a pair of dual wins Wednesday night, defeating Manchester in boys and girls swimming at the Viking pool.
The Valley boys had no trouble in taking down Manchester, 111-44, winning all 12 events in the process. The Valley girls won nine of the 12 events with Manchester, posting a 91-67 victory.
Chase Brower and Jacob Wagner each won two individual events and helped two respective relays claim wins. Brower won the 100 free (52.77) and the backstroke (1:03.84) while Wagner claimed the 200 free (2:11.36) and 500 free (6:14.92). The two teamed with Dakota Prater and Daniel Alexander to win the 400 free relay (4:04.80).
Brower, Prater, Alexander and Mason Stephens won the medley relay (1:58.68) and Wagner, Stephens, Cam Tucker and Jacob McDonald took the 200 free relay (1:56.47). Stephens was the winner of the breaststroke (1:20.00), Alexander in the butterfly (1:07.74), Prater in the medley relay (2:28.77) and Tucker in the 50 free (27.83). Travis Shull opened the night with a 142.70 to win diving, only opposed by teammate Zack Hodge’s 100.60.
Olivia Livengood was a double winner for the Valley girls, taking the butterfly (1:08.80) and was the only competitor in the medley relay (2:29.30). Blake McBrier won the 200 free (2:34.83), Kinzie Prater the 100 free (1:03.77), Mayde Fear the backstroke (1:17.21) and Grace Revere the breaststroke (1:32.61).
Kinzie Prater, McBrier, Livengood and Fear took the 400 free relay (4:28.42) as well as the medley relay (2:15.69). Tiphanie Hodge narrowly topped teammate Alivia Taylor in diving, 95.05-94.05, as the only two competitors.
Manchester had three event wins in the girls competition, with Skye Fierstos first in the 50 free (29.03), Tahnee Fuentes tops in the 500 free (6:53.89) and the grouping of Halie Wampler, Lydia Greer, Morgyn Jimenez and Lillian Myers in the 200 free at 2:23.62.
Tippecanoe Valley will have a long break before returning to action Jan. 4 at Warsaw with a quad against the Tigers, Huntington North and Rochester.
