Christmas With A Cop Provides 100 Area Kids With Gifts
WARSAW — One hundred kids in the area who may not have gotten Christmas gifts this year were able to receive toys and clothing with the help of local law enforcement agencies.
The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 149 held their annual “Christmas with a Cop” event on Thursday, Dec. 15. Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and area police departments took part in this year’s event.
Officer with the Warsaw Police Department Paul Heaton said they were able to purchase gifts for 100 kids. Heaton stated they had allotted funds to spend approximately $100 per child.
Heaton stated while they do other events and fundraisers throughout the year, Christmas with a Cop is “Our biggest event.”
The kids who got to take part in the event were pre-selected through their schools.
The event took place at Meijer. Kids were were paired with an officer who helped kids pick out their Christmas gifts for the year.
