Syracuse Community Public Library News And Events
SYRACUSE — The following events will take place at the Syracuse Public Library:
A Perfect Time to Bring in Some New
The Syracuse Library is getting new computers on Monday afternoon on Dec. 19. Users who want to use the public computers should be aware that there will be a limited number of computers available on Tuesday and possibly no printers available. Wi-Fi will work. Two technicians will be making the installation go as quickly and smoothly as possible. The computer desks are being rearranged so expect some furniture moving. Computer replacement is part of a long-range plan and the project has been scheduled to disrupt the fewest number of people. The old computers are clearly out of date. The new computers will function better, be more compatible with current operating systems and take up less space, allowing for a bigger work area.
Children, Families and Teens
School is out on Thursday, Dec. 22, and is the first day of activities over the holiday break. The children’s department will begin with edible gifts and holiday crafts that are entertaining to make. Friday at 2 p.m. is a showing of a family movie. The Syracuse Library is closed from Dec. 24 until Dec. 27, when the library reopens at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Doctor Who meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21. Antlers are a perennial holiday favorite and it is no different this year. A holiday special is shown along with an accompanying craft and food.
Young adult book readers are decorating cookies at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20. Teens are invited to bring a friend and come for sugary treats. Contact the library for more information at (574) 457-3022.
Movies and activities are provided during the school break. Look for details about these chances to do things that are fun and free. And, plan ahead so that you have plenty of reading materials during the long winter’s nights.
