Warsaw Basketball: Johnson Leaves Tigers
WARSAW – The Warsaw boys basketball team will feature a different look come Friday night.
Junior Ross Johnson has left the Tigers and has transferred to Triton High School, according to reports.
Johnson, a 6-3 guard, had started all 10 games this season for coach Doug Ogle’s team. He was second on the team in scoring at 5.6 points-per-game and was also averaging 1.5 rebounds per contest.
Warsaw sits at 6-4 on the season after losing to defending state champion New Albany 43-33 in a first-round game and 64-47 to Lawrence North in the consolation game of the Hall of Fame Classic in New Castle on Dec. 30. Johnson had five points and four rebounds versus New Albany and no points and one rebound against Lawrence North.
Johnson, who was a reserve on last year’s team that posted a 25-2 mark and won conference, sectional and regional titles, was shooting 51 percent from the field and 71 percent from the free throw line. He was also second on the team with six 3-pointers.
Johnson, according to reports, will not play basketball this season for Triton. The Trojans, who are 4-4, host John Glenn Friday night. Triton has not played since a 46-33 loss to Warsaw on Dec. 21.
Warsaw, which is still on Christmas break, returns to action Friday night. The Tigers host Northridge in a Northern Lakes Conference game.
