New Officers Take The Helm For 2017
NORTH WEBSTER — The roster of officers was filled out for the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce at its monthly meeting Monday, Jan. 9, in the Tippecanoe Township Building.
The Papers Inc. Susan Stump will be the new secretary while Lake City Bank’s Brenda Peterson takes over as treasurer. They join President Sue Ward, Sue’s Creations. Karilyn Metcalf, Dixie Sternwheeler Inc. is the new vice president.
A major topic of the meeting was plans for Dixie Day Festival and Artisan Fair. It will be held Saturday, July 29. Cochairmen for the festival are Ward, Terry Frederick, The Watershed Foundation, and Jim Smith, Loose Moose Motorsports.
Talks are underway with area boat dealers to add a three-day boat show at the Mermaid Festival Grounds, Thursday through Saturday, July 27-29.
Dino Coverstone, Socks Marina, is launching this new addition to the already in place car, truck and motorcycle show which will be held just July 29 under the direction of Chris Lusso, Clearwater Carpentry. A tractor show is also new for Saturday with head honcho Smith.
Chairman of various committees for the event volunteered. They include Stacey Cox, Pletcher Insurance, and Linda Land, Lake-Land Cottages, as the food vendor leaders. Ward will serve as head of the artisan vendors.
Martha Stoelting, The Papers, is in charge of advertising while Frederick and Paula Miller, Paula Miller Farms, will chair the chamber booth. Peterson is again on board for the Dixie Day 5K. Helen Leinbach, North Webster Community Public Library, and Ashley Ward, Up Your Alley, will chair the flea market vendors. Metcalf will oversee the old fashioned cake walk.

Ward noted the annual chamber awards dinner is coming up Monday, March 13. Nominations for person of the year, large business of the year (10 or more employees) and small business of the year (less than 10 employees) are being sought. The deadline to nominate is Wednesday, Feb. 1. Co chairmen are Frederick, Stump, and Pletcher.

Describe in a paragraph or two why the person or business should be nominated for the award. Service to the community is the primary qualification. Businesses must be chamber members and are listed in the 2016-17 North Webster Community Guide available at area businesses and town hall and police station.
Annual membership applications have been mailed out and a reminder is being sent via email. Deadline for inclusion in the community guide is Feb. 15. “That is a firm deadline,” said Ward.
Other business included locating a lift tall enough for the Christmas lights on the Pilcher lawn tree to be taken down and revamped for next year. Finalization of the phone answering of the chamber was discussed. Leinbach and Tammy Waliczek, Dixie Haven Resort, will work on the updating of the newsletter.
