Miner To Remain President Of Silver Lake Town Council For 2017
SILVER LAKE — During the first Silver Lake town council meeting of the year, board members unanimously approved the motion for Chad Miner to continue as the council president for 2017. Miner served as president for the 2016 year.
A motion was made to approve John Conley as the Silver Lake fire chief. This motion was seconded and approved.
Conley requested approval to paint the office and doors at the fire station. Miner suggested that Conley obtain estimates for the cost and submit the estimates at the next council meeting.
Conley also discussed the Fire Department Instructors Conference, an annual conference and exhibition held at the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis in April. Conley stated that several firemen would like to attend this event and he would like to get them registered. He requested permission for them to register and attend this event and that request was approved. Conley submitted a yearly summary report from the fire department.
Regarding an archeologist study that was recently performed, the town has received a bill amounting to $400 less than the price they were originally quoted. Motion was made to pay this bill and motion was approved.
Two Silver Lake residents brought up the situation regarding cars on a neighbor’s property. The cars have been on that property since spring and are apparently not being used and are not properly registered. Council members determined that “some progress has been made” regarding this situation, although not as much progress as the community would like to see.
After the town hall meeting was adjourned, council members remained at the building for a training session on their new chromebooks, which were recently purchased for council members in an effort to cut down on paper waste.
