SOUTH WHITLEY — The Whitko boys basketball team was back in action Friday night. The Wildcats topped Three Rivers Conference foe Southwood 62-58 to extend their winning streak to three games.

Whitko was hot from the start as it outscored Southwood 20-15 in the first quarter and stay strong offensively all game. The Wildcats were led by 26 points from River West. Nate Walpole added 18 for the ‘Cats while Spencer Sroufe had 14. Sroufe completed a double-double by had a team-high 14 rebounds. He also had four assists and four blocks.

Whitko (7-5, 3-1) will look to stay hot Tuesday when it hosts Adams Central.

In the JV game Southwood topped Whitko 49-33. Micah Cokl had 12 points to lead the home team. Cade Bechtold added seven boards, six points and three blocks and two steals.
