Barbara J. Manahan
Barbara J. Manahan, Winona Lake, passed away at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2017 at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw, at the age of 75.
She was born on Oct. 24, 1941 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Henry Campbell and Wilna (Fleming) Campbell. She was married on July 18, 1964 and shared 52 wonderful years with Ronald E. Manahan, who survives in Winona Lake, Indiana.
Barbara graduated from Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music, then attended Grace College. She was a phenomenal musician. She had command of the piano and used her talent in numerous churches. She also taught piano lessons for over 50 years. Early in her career, she held administrative assistant positions at the University of Michigan as well as the dean’s office at Shelton College in New Jersey. She completed her career by working as a computer typesetter for Eisenbrauns for nearly 35 years. As her boss, Jim Eisenbraun, said, she had an enormous impact upon that company.
We will all remember her as a quiet, yet strong force. She was feisty, but always encouraging. She had the best laugh and the warmest smile. And she always had a twinkle in her eye, like she knew a great secret. She was a deep follower of the Lord and a diligent prayer warrior. She will be severely missed.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son: Nathan Manahan, Indianapolis; and daughter: Kelly (husband John) Manahan Geisler, Athens, Ga. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Becca (husband Micah) Wood, Columbia City; Michael Geisler, Boston, Mass.; Matthew Geisler, Athens, Ga.; Audra, Campbell, Maggie and Patrick Manahan, all of Indianapolis; and her sister: Evelyn (husband Robert) Chipps, Jacksonville, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.
A memorial service celebrating Barbara’s life will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center, 610 Wooster Road, Winona Lake and officiated by Reverend Les Lofquist. A private family graveside service will be conducted at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
