Marvoline Behmer Lowry
Marvoline Behmer Lowry, 96, died Jan. 20 after a short illness.
She was born July 16, 1920 to John N and Cleta (Davidson) Bollenbacher. On Sept. 14, 1940 she married J. Richard Behmer of Culver. He passed away on Sept. 10, 1971. On Oct. 6, 1984 she married Arnold “Sam” Lowry, who died on June 16, 1990.
Marvoline spent her adult life on the Behmer Homestead Farm until she moved to Plymouth in 2003 due to health problems.
Music was always an important part of her life. With her father and brothers, she played for square dances in her pre-teen days and later in groups for various organizations and dances. She was a church pianist for over 80 years.
She’s survived by three children: Anne Behmer, Culver; Linda (Billy) Bartlett, Henderson, Nevada; and John Behmer, Granger; two grandsons: Richard (Shara) Spicer, Wichita Falls, Texas, and Craig (Melissa) Spicer, Argos, and Anita Spicer, grand daughter-in-law, Plymouth; six great grandchildren: Jacob, Zachary, Jessica and Emily Spicer, Wichita Falls, Texas, and Noah and Aaron Spicer, Argos; four step-children: Samuel (Sheryl) Lowry, Spring Lake, Mich., Andrew (Kathy) Lowry, Plano, Texas, Stuart (Renee) Lowry, Ferndale, WA., Evan (Joyce) Lowry, LaPorte, and Patricia Medrano, Plano, Texas; 11 step grandchildren and 21 step great grandchildren.
Surviving sisters-in-law: Lenore Schaefer, Novi, Mich., Betty Wagoner, Farmington, NM, and Julia Ward, Citrus Heights, Cal.
Besides her parents and two spouses, she was preceded in death by a grandson Robert Spicer, two brothers, Owen and Paul Bollenbacher, and five sisters-in-law, Frances Schaefer, Margaret Baker, Helen Hess, Faye Bollenbacher and Emma Lou Bollenbacher.
Marvoline was a member of Hibbard Circle, Golden Key Club and Marshall County Home Demonstration Past President Club. She attended Sunrise Chapel.
The Van Gilder Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the (Behmer) Lowry family. Funeral services will be held in her honor on Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 10:30 a.m. in the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street Plymouth, Indiana 46563 with Cindy Flagg officiating. Burial will be in the Culver Masonic Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the Van Gilder Funeral Home on Tuesday, Jan. 24, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
