LCA Basketball: Cougars Drop Close One
FORT WAYNE – The Lakeland Christian Academy boys basketball team dropped a 69-66 final to Fort Wayne Smith Academy Saturday night.
The Cougars started strong with a 22-12 lead after the opening period. The game was tied at 33-33 at halftime before LCA took a 52-49 lead at the end of the third quarter.
Landon Twombly had a huge night for the Cougars as he poured in a game-high 27 points. Twombly also had six rebounds.
Josh McDaniel also had a big game with 18 points for LCA. Jake Harmon and Eli Raymond each finished with six points for the Cougars.
Jeremy Gross had eight rebounds, while Harmon added six for LCA. Braxton Keller had five caroms.
The hosts went 19-26 from the free throw line in the win. LCA was just 9-14 from the stripe on the night.
LCA, which has lost four in a row, drops to 6-12. Smith Academy, which has won its last five games, improves to 8-8.
LCA hosts South Bend Career Academy next Friday night. Smith Academy plays at Hamilton Tuesday night.
