Whitko Third, Valley 12th At NASP State Archery Meet
INDIANAPOLIS – Whitko and Tippecnaoe Valley competed in the 2017 Indiana NASP/IBO 3-D Challenge and State Tournaments Saturday, the Wildcats taking third overall in the team 3-D tournament.
Whitko’s Holly Hathaway led the way with a 281, scoring 18 tens, and wound up ranked fourth out of 68 girls shooters. Teammate Lexie Schuman finished at 277, scoring 15 tens, and was sixth overall and Amy Hurd was third on the team, scoring a 275 with 11 tens and was ninth out of 68. Whitko as a collective shot a 1620 to finished third behind champion Evansville Reitz’s 1651 and runner-up South Decatur’s 1640.
Tippecanoe Valley was 12th out of 15 teams, scoring a 1504. Dylan Wood led the Vikings with a 217, getting 10 tens and ranking tenth out of 104 boys shooters. Elijah Holder was next at 266, also getting 10 tens, and ranking 19th, and Ethan Harger also scored 266, getting six tens and ranking 22nd.
In the bullseye competition, Schuman was the top Whitko shooter at 286, getting 19 tens and ranking 16th out of 293 competitors. Wood was Valley’s competitor, getting a 281 with 14 tens and a 48th place ranking.
Jason Gasper was the top competitor in bullseye with a 295, followed by Seth Hansen of Good Shepherd Catholic and James Weir of Madison, both finishing at 294.
