Brickner Headed To Play Hoops At Bethel
MIDDLEBURY – Kelsey Brickner had a stellar senior season on the hardwood for the Northridge girls basketball team.
Brickner will now take her talents on to play at Bethel College next season.
Brickner, a 5-11 forward, helped lead the Raiders to a school-record 28-2 mark her senior year. Northridge won the Northern Lakes Conference title for the second straight season and then won the Class 4-A Goshen Sectional crown and the Class 4-A LaPorte Regional championship. The Raiders lost to eventual state champion Homestead in the North Semistate contest.
Brickner, one of four seniors for the Raiders, averaged 9.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game for coach Doug Springer’s squad. She shot 51 percent from the field and 73 percent from the free throw line.
“We are getting not only a great player in Kelsey, but a great kid who we feel is excited to grow not only as a basketball player, but as a person,” Bethel coach Eric Gingerich said. “As a player, she fills our need in this recruiting class in the post. On top of that, we love her grit and her ability to sit down in the half court and play defense.”
Bethel finished 10-21 overall and 7-11 in Crossroads League play during the 2016-17 season.
