Valley Track: Vikings Tops In Four At CMA Indoor
CULVER – It was snowing and cold outside on Tuesday, but it was fine inside for the Culver Academy Indoor Quad track meets. Tippecanoe Valley, along with the host Culver Academy, John Glenn, Knox and North Judson all competed for individual times.
Valley had four individual champions on its boys team and one on its girls team. High jump was dominated by Valley’s boys, with Justin Peconga and Keith Wright both clearing 5-4 to claim honors, teammate Dwight Conley third at 5-2. Jameson Baker kept the Valley field success going with a 44-08.75 winner in shot put. Izaiah Brown had a track win for the Vikings with a 25.5 to win the 220 dash. The Lady Vikings’ 4×245 relay team was first with a time of 2:23.10.
Taking second for the Valley boys was Dakota Parker in the 40 dash at 5.0 and the 4×367 relay team with at time of 3:14.50. Peconga was third in the mile run at 5:49.0.
Caleigh Bryer and Alyssa Brito both had runner-up finishes for the girls team, Bryer going 5.4 in the 40 dash and Brito 31.0 in the 220. Valeria Jimenez was third in both the 440 at 1:13.80 and the 45 hurdles at 7.5.
Valley’s ambitious first outdoor meet is Tuesday in hosting NorthWood. Should the meet not get off the ground, the Vikings are off until April 11 against Whitko and North Miami.
