Whitko Art Department Honored At The Statehouse
INDIANA — State Rep. Christopher Judy (R-Fort Wayne) this week at the Statehouse honored the Whitko High School Art Department with a House resolution.
According to Judy, the art department competed in the 47th World Children’s Art Exhibition in Taipei in the Republic of China where they received numerous awards and certificates for their submitted pieces of artwork.
“Whitko High School art students received 21 awards for their artwork and are an excellent example of how hard work and dedication can be rewarding,” Judy said. “The outstanding accomplishments of these students and their teacher is a great representation of the exceptional art department at Whitko High School.”
Judy said the World School Children’s Art Exhibition promotes mutual understanding and friendship among young generations through the exchange of children’s art work. It is organized by the Association for Education through Art, the Republic of China and the Association of Formative Art Education for the Republic of China.
Art students from all over the world submitted oil paintings, watercolors, woodcut prints, pencil sketches, crayon drawings, pastels, collages, etchings, graphic designs and various other artwork as entries into the 47th World School Children’s Art Exhibition.
“Art can surmount any language and cultural barrier that may exist,” Judy said. “These students deserve to be recognized for being ambassadors for our state and showcasing the talent within our community.”
