Danny Gokey Rounds Out the 2017 Elkhart County 4-H Fair Summer Concert Series
GOSHEN — Christian musician Danny Gokey, with special guest Jordan Feliz, will perform Sunday, July 23, the final concert to be announced for the 2017 Elkhart County 4-H Fair concert series.
Gokey, a Milwaukee native who gained fame when showcasing his talent on “American Idol,” has found success in music — his sophomore album, “Hope in Front of Me,” follows on his first album which produced hits “My Best Days Are Ahead of Me” and “I Will Not Say Goodbye” — but also in Sophia’s Heart, the charity he founded to honor the memory of his first wife when she died.
In addition to the title track on his second album, several others resonate with listeners. “Love Will Take You Places” boasts a hauntingly beautiful melody and powerful lyric about love’s ability to take us places we never imagined we could go. “It’s Not Over” starts with a sweet soulful vibe that builds into a vibrant anthem of survival and triumph.
“Tell Your Heart to Beat Again” is a gut-wrenching ballad that talks about pain and loss, yet serves as a reminder of the hope that is always present even in the most trying times. “This is What It Means” is a revealing ballad that Gokey says is the most autobiographical. “That song is the most about me,” he says.
For Jordan Feliz, 2016 has been an incredible and breakout year for the talented singer/songwriter. He received major awards nominations from the GMA Dove Awards in August (New Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year – “The River”) and at the K-LOVE Fan Awards in June for Breakout Single of the Year (“The River”).
Feliz also released his first full album, The River, in April and it debuted at No. 4 on Billboard’s Christian Albums chart. The first single from the project, “Never Too Far Gone,” became his second No. 1 song. His mega-hit tune, “The River,” released in 2015 and was the first single from his debut Centricity project, Beloved. The song remained No.1 for ten weeks on Billboard’s National Christian Audience Chart and seven weeks on the CHR/Hot AC Chart. It remains in the Top 30 on iTunes Christian Singles chart.
Feliz hails from Central California and began his professional music career as the frontman for a mainstream rock band, before becoming a solo Christian artist, moving to Nashville and signing his first label deal with Centricity Music in 2015.
