Scott Steps Down As Memorial Hoops Coach
ELKHART – Steve Scott has stepped down as the girls basketball coach at Elkhart Memorial High School.
Scott was 73-60 as the coach of the Crimson Chargers for the past six years. He is 174-143 in 14 seasons overall, coming to Memorial after a very successful stint as the girls basketball coach at South Bend Clay High School.
Memorial posted a 13-10 overall mark during the 2016-17 season, losing to Warsaw 58-31 in a first-round game of the Class 4-A Goshen Sectional. The Crimson Chargers were 5-2 in Northern Lakes Conference play, tying Warsaw for second place behind league champion Northridge (7-0).
The Chargers had just one senior on its sectional roster in Skylar Axsom.
Scott becomes the second girls coach in the NLC to resign since the season ended. Warsaw coach Michelle Harter stepped down earlier this month after nine years in charge of the WCHS program.
