Hoops Stars To Shine In McDonald’s All-Star Games
MISHAWAKA – Some of the area’s best high school basketball players will showcase their talents Tuesday night in the sixth annual McDonald’s Michiana High School All-Star Basketball Games.
The pair of games will be held in the Wiekamp Athletic Center on the campus of Bethel College. The girls game will begin at 5 p.m. with the boys contest slated to follow at 7:15.
Slated to participate in the girls game are Warsaw seniors Dayton Groninger and Madi Graham. The pair of standout guards led the Tigers to a 20-4 mark this past season.
The girls game will also include Tippecanoe Valley senior standout Anne Secrest. The Youngstown State University recruit led the Vikings to a 22-5 mark and a Class 3-A sectional title and a Three Rivers Conference championship.
The NorthWood duo of Taitlyn Trenshaw and Savannah Feenstra are also scheduled to play in the girls contest.
The remainder of the roster for the girls game includes Diamond Adams (South Bend Washington), Alli Andrews (Plymouth), Alex Bope (Oregon-Davis), Kelsey Brickner (Northridge), Samantha Jankowski (South Bend Adams), Nicole Konieczny (South Bend St. Joseph), Cydney Lapczynski (Elkhart Memorial), Brooke McKinley (Northridge), Abby O’Connor (South Bend St. Joseph), Sarah Doi (Penn), Riley Ott (LaPorte), Asia Strong (South Bend Riley), Mya Scheidt (Crown Point), Victoria Styers (Culver Academy), Daly Sullivan (South Bend St. Joseph) and Meghan Urbanski (Mishawaka Marian).
Warsaw star Kyle Mangas is scheduled to play in the boys game. Mangas, an Indiana Wesleyan University recruit, led the Tigers to a second straight Class 4-A sectional championship and a third consecutive undefeated season in the Northern Lakes Conference during the 2016-17 campaign.
The boys roster also includes NorthWood standouts Vinny Miranda and Luke Zurcher. The pair led the Panthers to a 21-3 mark, the fourth straight 20-win season for the program.
Also slated to play in the boys game are Damezi Anderson (South Bend Riley), Noah Applegate (Penn), Matt Box (Bremen), Cornell Conner (Elkhart Central), Shamar Dillard (South Bend Riley), Walter Ellis (South Bend Adams), Nick Felke (Plymouth), Mike Green (South Bend Adams), Elijah Hales (Westview), Mike Hemmingway (Mishawaka Marian), Cory McKinney (South Bend Washington), Luke Morrison (Northridge), Maurice Scott Jr. (South Bend Riley), Tysean Shepppard (South Bend Clay) and Nathan Stutzman (Clinton Christian).
Tickets for the games will be available at the door Tuesday night. Adults are $5, students $2 and those 12 and younger will be admitted for free.
