Whitko Baseball: Hewitt Leads ‘Cats In Rivalry Win
CHURUBUSCO — The Whitko baseball opened up its season and its offense against Churubusco Tuesday night. The Wildcats clipped the wings of their county rivals, run-ruling the host Eagles 17-6 in six innings.
Drew Bradford picked up the win on the mound for Whitko as he went four innings, fanning four, walking two and giving up just one earned run. Alex Robbins struck out four in relief in his two innings of relief.
Zach Hewitt led the way offensively for the Wildcats a she had five RBIs. Three of those came on a three-run homer in the first inning from Hewitt, scoring Landen Goff and Alex Bechtold. Zach Morris was 2-3 at the place with three RBIs and a stolen base while Bradford was 2-4 with two RBIs and a swiped bag.
Brandon Hickey, Parker Sturtz, Dean Stanley and Brandon Jencks all had two hits for the Eagles. Colin Mullins took the lost for Busco after three innings of work.
Whitko returns to action Saturday with a double header at Marion.
