Lake City Bank Winona Branch Attempted Robbery
WINONA LAKE — Today, March 30 at 3:40 p.m. officers with the Winona Lake Police Department were dispatched to the Lake City Bank Winona Lake branch located at 99 Chestnut Ave, Winona Lake. The first officer arrived on scene at 3:43 p.m.. making contact with a suspect inside the bank. The officer was able to take the suspect later identified as Arturo Ortega-Paredes into custody without further incident.
Investigators were able to determine that Paredes entered the bank implying he had a weapon and demanded money from the tellers. Paredes never displayed a weapon. Paredes had obtained an unknown amount of money from the tellers prior to being taken into custody.
Paredes was found to be intoxicated and was transported to a medical facility for medical clearance before being transported to Kosciusko County Jail for an outstanding warrant along with a charge of armed robbery related to the bank robbery today.
Winona Lake Police were assisted by the Warsaw Police Department and the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
