Middle School Bands Receive Perfect Scores At ISSMA
WARSAW — Congratulations to the Edgewood and Lakeview Band on their outstanding results at the Indiana State School Music Association Organizational Contest held at Paul Harding High School, Fort Wayne.
WCS is proud to announce all Edgewood and Lakeview Band students received a gold rating from all three judges. If a combined score from all three judges are lower than the cutoff score set by ISSMA, the bands are then awarded a special “with distinction” sticker to be added on their award plaque along with a congratulatory letter on this musical honor. This year marked the sixth year both Edgewood and Lakeview bands received this honor.
In addition to their other noteworthy achievements, WCS students received perfect scores from all three judges at the competition –an incredible honor and accomplishment for both schools’ bands.
The contest required students to perform three selections, which would be evaluated by a panel of three judges. During the performance, the judges made written as well as verbal comments, critiquing the band on musical areas of importance. All of these areas are then broken down into 4-5 very detailed areas to be evaluated.
“As a band, you get a very complete evaluation of your strengths and areas to grow,” explained Joseph Peloza, Edgewood/Lakeview band director.
Peloza thanked parents that attended for their support of music education in their child’s life.
“Parents, students and my family had many pictures taken to help capture this incredible moment as a result of everyone’s dedication and outstanding work ethic,” stated Peloza.
