Symphony Of The Lakes Presents April Concert
WARSAW — The Symphony of the Lakes, the professional symphony branch of Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts, will present its concert “Once Upon a Symphony” at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 29 at the Winona Heritage Room.
The concert will feature pianist Michelle Tapp, senior at Penn High School and winner of the 2017 Young Artist Competition, performing Piano Concerto in A Minor by Robert Schumann.
In addition to Tapp’s performance, the concert will feature Symphony No. 40 in G Minor by Mozart, as well as Sergei Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf,” narrated by Terry White and “Spring” from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons featuring Maestro and Conductor Tom Stirling on violin.
The April 29 event will also feature a food drive as part of the League of American Orchestra’s Orchestras Feeding America initiative. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the organization’s efforts to fight hunger. The donations will be distributed locally to Combined Community Services and Fellowship Missions.
“As a member organization of Warsaw and Winona Lake, it is important to remember to give back,” Stirling said. “The orchestra is looking forward to working with the League of American Orchestras and our community by giving towards Orchestras Feed America 2017.”
Tickets to the event are available at wagonwheelcenter.org, over the phone at (574) 267-8041, and in person at the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts box office at 2515 E. Center St. in Warsaw.
