Grace Golf: Lancers Finish Strong
FORT WAYNE – The Grace College men’s golf team demonstrated remarkable improvement between rounds at the St. Francis Invitational.
The Lancers, who finished sixth out of 10 teams, had a 329 on Friday at Autumn Ridge Golf Club. But Grace lowered its team total by 28 strokes, best in the tournament, to finish with a 301 at Cherry Hill Golf Club on Saturday.
As a team, Grace jumped up two places on the team leaderboard. The Lancers’ 301 on Saturday was the third-lowest result of the day.
Jonathan Schram led Grace’s efforts with an eighth-place showing. He had a 79 on Friday but dropped that total to 72 on Saturday, tied for the second-lowest round of the day.
Chad Spencer was second for Grace, showcasing another improvement with an 84-74. Spencer jumped 14 spots on the individual leaderboard.
Tristan Nienhuis was next for Grace with a scoreline of 81-79, and Tyler Ham carded an 85-76.
Cameron Bates was Grace’s fifth in the lineup, and Jacob Kennedy, Max Leary and Zachary Allyn also competed in the meet.
The Lancers will head to the Steven Tyler Invitational at The Moors Golf Course on Monday before tackling the Bethel Invitational next weekend.
