Arturo Rodriguez Obregon
Arturo “Art” Rodriguez Obregon, Pierceton, passed away unexpectedly while in Glendale, Ariz. at 8:20 a.m. at Abrazo Arrowhead Campus Hospital on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the age of 69.
He was born on April 27, 1947 at Eagle Pass, Texas to Amaure R. Obregon and Rosa (Rodriguez) Obregon. On July 15, 1972 he was married to Sharon Eileen Bryant, who survives in Pierceton.
Art was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 58 years where he was a 1966 graduate of Pierceton High School where he played baseball, basketball and ran track and cross country. Art went on to attend Huntington College where he played baseball and soccer, and graduating in 1970 with his Bachelor’s Degree. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1970 and served in Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1974. He worked at Uniroyal in Warsaw prior to working at Biomet Inc. until retiring in 2013. He had a great love for baseball, even serving as a scout for the Cincinnati Reds. He helped coach little league in Warsaw, Pierceton, and at Whitko High School. Art was an avid marathon runner and enjoyed being a jokester. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of Dutchtown Brethren Church of Warsaw and attended Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife: Sharon E. Obregon, Pierceton; son: Rodney (wife Elvia) Obregon, Pierceton; two daughters: Kristina Obregon, Pierceton; Tiffany (husband John) Tarlton, Pierceton; four grandchildren: Brigit, Holly, Taylor and Drake; and two step-grandchildren: Robbie and Christina. Also surviving are two brothers: Armando (wife Claudette) Obregon, Elkhart; Moe Obregon, Springfield, Mo.; and two sisters: Hope Cooper, Arizona; Lala (husband Raul) Ramirez, Wakarusa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Visitation will be held from 2-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 19 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.
His funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 20 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Reverend Roger Peugh. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Pierceton.
