Janet J. Karst, 81, of Huntington, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at 8:17 a.m. at Visiting Nurse & Hospice, Fort Wayne.            

Mrs. Karst was born on Aug. 9, 1935, in Huntington to Virgil and Chella (Howenstine) Juillerat. Her parents preceded her in death. Mrs. Karst married Thomas J. Karst on July 24, 1954.  He preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 2001.

Janet was a bus driver for the Huntington County Community School Corporation for over 25 years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she sang in the choir, Extension Homemaker’s Club, Sigma Beta Sorority, and active with the 4-H Fair for many years.   

Janet is survived by three daughters: Teresa (Joe) Updike, Elaine (Joe) Carroll, Jennifer (Todd) Little, all of Huntington; two sisters, Janice Schroeder, Huntington; Jarice (Don) Davenriner, Warren; four brothers, V. Kenneth (Linda) Juillerat, North Manchester; Victor (Kim) Juillerat, Whitehouse, Tenn.; Van (Kathy) Juillerat, Andrews; John (Ruby Perez) Juillerat, Columbia City; nine grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Richard Karst.

Calling hours will be held from 2-8 p.m. Friday, April 21, at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. Recitation of the Rosary will be held prior to the visitation hours at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Additional calling hours will be held from 9-10 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, prior to Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 22 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington with Father Stephen Colchin presiding.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Huntington County 4-H Fair Association or Visiting Nurse & Hospice in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.

Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington.
