Dorothy J. Baker
Dorothy J. “June” Baker, 91, Syracuse, passed away at 9:11 a.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw.
She was born Feb. 28, 1926 in Muncie to Frank O. and Dorothy M. (Goodwin) Leyendecker.
She graduated in 1944 from Muncie Central High School and on May 20, 1951 in Muncie she married Robert Glen “Bob” Baker who preceded her in January 1981. She moved to the Syracuse area in 1976 from Muncie and retired in 1992 from Epworth Forest Church Camp after 21 years of service.
She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse where she served as the bank depositor for 10 years and was part of the Martha’s Circle. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 223 in Syracuse, former member of the Eagles Lodge in Syracuse, and she did volunteer work.
She is survived by her son, Jeffery Baker, North Webster; two granddaughters: Lauren Lantz, Milford; Jordan Lantz, Warsaw; two great granddaughters, Lilah Drudge and Claire Costa; and her companion, Robert “Bob” Dust, Syracuse.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Michael Baker, and three sisters, Jeanne Brose, Peggy Schultz, and Pat Hyman.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. on Saturday, April 15 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor David Henry of the Calvary United Methodist Church officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 17 at Elm Ridge Cemetery, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie.
