Juvenile Killed, Two Others Hurt After Crash In Whitley County
WHITLEY COUNTY — A juvenile was killed and another suffered life-threatening injuries in an overnight crash near Larwill, according to the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash happened at the intersection of SR 5 and U.S. 30 just after 1 a.m. Sunday, April 16.
According to investigators, a pickup truck driven by Chase Belcher, 25, Warsaw, failed to stop at a red light and collided with a car driven by a juvenile, whose age and identity have not been released by police. Police said the vehicles continued for approximately 300 feet before coming to a stop.
Beicher was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital with cuts to his head.
Another juvenile in the car was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital with a brain injury, collapsed lung, and right leg injury, according to police.
18-year-old Jacob Burchett of Warsaw was also in the car. He was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital with fractures in both of his legs, according to a police report.
The crash remains under investigation.
