Triton Sports Wrap: April 17
Girls Tennis
The perfect season for Triton came to an end at the hands of host Rochester. The Zebras beat the Trojans 4-1 in girls tennis on a gorgeous Monday afternoon.
Triton’s lone court winner came at one doubles, where the duo of Hannah Wanemacher and Emma Ross continued their personal unbeaten season with a 6-2, 6-1 result over Arrianah Jacobs and Rosalie Navarro. Otherwise, it was all Zebras.
Zoe Bixler needed three sets to take down Kolbie Mason, 1-6, 6-4, 6-1, Allie Bickle topped Quinn Downing 6-3, 7-5 and Abbie McCarter bested Siera Sauer 6-2, 6-4 to sweep the singles courts. At two doubles, Grace Daake and Clair Dunwoody came away with a 6-0, 6-2 score against Kendra Morris and Kaylene Slabaugh.
Rochester also claimed a 3-2 JV result. Winning for Triton were Madison Sauer in singles play and Connor Sherwood and Amanda Baker at doubles.
Triton falls to 3-1 and Rochester improves to 5-1. Triton plays again Tuesday at Whitko.
Boys Golf
Triton moved to 5-0 after a double win Monday afternoon. The Trojans shot a 164 to best John Glenn’s 183 and Mishawaka’s 227 at Swan Lake.
Leading the way for Triton was Braden Kreft, who shot a 39. Spencer Johnson was one shot back at 40, followed by Beau Hepler at 42, Isaac Wall at 43 and Ross Johnson at 47.
JV scores for Triton included Chase Butler at 40, Bryce Swihart at 44, Mace Eads at 47, and Brock Watkins and Kade Atkins both at 51.
Triton will take on Goshen Tuesday at Rozella.
