Social Studies Team Keeps String Alive At 12
SYRACUSE — For the 12th year in a row, Wawasee High School is sending an Academic Super Bowl social studies team to the state competition.
The duo of Josh Webber and Anthon Anker qualified for the state competition by finishing fourth overall in the state in Class 2 during the regional round. Wawasee competed in the regional tournament Tuesday, April 18, at Northridge High School.
Normally only five teams qualify for the state competition, but since there was a tie for fifth place six teams qualified. Joining Wawasee will be West Lafayette, Rushville, NorthWood, Evansville Reitz and Western.
The state Academic Super Bowl competition will be held Saturday, May 6, at Purdue University. It will be the fourth trip to Purdue for Webber.
Mary Lou Dixon is the coach of the Wawasee social studies team.
