Valley Sports Wrap: April 22
Baseball
The Valley baseball team took on Taylor for a double header Saturday morning and split with the Titans. Taylor took game one 2-1 while the Vikings earned the win in game two, 7-5.
Taylor enjoyed a walk-off win in game one after the Vikings had taken the lead in the sixth inning. Tucker Shull was listed as having multiple hits in the game.
In game two Valley won thanks to multiple-hit games from Shull, Alec Craig, Tanner Trippiedi and Adam Myers. Trippiedi got the win after five and two-thirds innings of work, recording four strikeouts and giving up eight hits.
Valley (4-2) plays at Whitko Monday night.
Softball
The Valley softball team was swept by Adams Central Saturday morning. The Jets flew by the Vikings 8-0 in game one and 11-0 in game two.
Kaitlyn Shepherd had the only hit for Valley in the first game, going 1-3 at the dish. Ally Betten was 1-2 with a walk. In game two Betten and Madi Francis were each 1-2 with a single. Francis also had a stolen base.
Valley (4-7) plays at Whitko Monday night.
Tennis
The Valley girls tennis team went 1-2 in the Bremen Tournament Saturday.
The Vikings topped North Judson by a 3-2 final. Valley won all three singles matches as Lea Stouder won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1, Makenna Bradley won 6-3, 7-5 at No. 2 and Tiphanie Hodge won by a forfeit at No. 3.
Valley lost 5-0 to both Bremen and Wabash during the four-team round-robin event.
Bremen finished 3-0 as the hosts also defeated Wabash 3-2 and North Judson 5-0. Wabash was second with a 2-1 mark with Valley going 1-2 and North Judson 0-3.
Valley plays at Peru on Tuesday evening.
