Warsaw Sports Wrap: April 21
Baseball
The Warsaw baseball team came out on the short end of a 14-7 home loss to Plymouth in Northern Lakes Conference play.
Alex Miller led the Tigers with two hits, including a double, and two RBI.
Luke Baker had two hits with a triple and Jared Hawley also had a pair of hits.
Jordan Jones took the pitching loss for the Tigers, who drop to 4-5 overall and 1-2 in the NLC.
Warsaw plays a doubleheader at Kokomo Saturday at 11 a.m. and then plays at NorthWood in conference action on Monday evening.
Softball
The Warsaw softball team picked up a 9-6 Northern Lakes Conference win at Plymouth.
Lauren Shaffner and Riley Bloemendaal each smacked a home run to lead the way for the winners. Bloemendaal drove in three runs.
Isabelle Dittmar had three hits with a double for the Tigers. Abby Glass had to hits and Saylor Bradley and Shaffner each had two RBI.
The Tigers improve to 4-4 overall and move to 2-1 in league action.
Warsaw hosts NorthWood in league play Monday evening.
Tennis
The Warsaw girls tennis team capped off its busy week with a 5-0 win at Fort Wayne Concordia.
Liza Lewis led the way with a 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles for the Tigers, who were playing for the fourth straight day.
Ella Knight posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles and Alyssa Zellers completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 for Warsaw, which won its third straight match.
The duo of Colette Smith and Athena Schlitt won 6-3, 6-1 on the No. 1 doubles court for Warsaw. The team of Rachel Yeager and Libby Jenkins won 6-3, 7-5 at No. 2 for the Tigers.
Warsaw won the junior varsity action 6-3. Winners in singles play were Rachel Boyle, Amy Herendeen, Izzy Ray and Jasmine Baker. Winning in doubles were the teams of Sophie Schlitt and Mattie Ray and Addison Marshall and Katrielle Rodgers.
Warsaw, now 5-1 on the season, will host Carroll on Monday evening.
