Warsaw Golf: JV Squad Takes Invite Title
WARSAW – The hosts had the most on Saturday in the Warsaw Junior Varsity Golf Invitational.
The JV Tigers continued their strong season by taking the team title of the seven-team event played at the Rozella Ford Golf Course.
Warsaw fired a 337 on the day to easily outdistance runner-up Northridge, which came in at 374. NorthWood was third with a 379.
The trio of Jacob LaLonde and Chase Byron of Warsaw and NorthWood’s Taylor Wiegand all shot a 79. LaLonde earned individual medalist honors by winning a playoff among the three players.
Zach LaLonde shot an 86 and Noah Pequignot had a 93 for the champion Tigers. Brian Elliott finished with a 104 for the hosts.
Keaton Kitson fired a 93 for NorthWood. Micah Pippenger finished with a 98, Liam Hammond 109 and Noah Schwartz 113 for the Panthers. Dawson Maugel had a 125 playing as an individual for NorthWood.
Warsaw will compete against Goshen and Wawasee in conference play on Tuesday evening at the Stonehenge Golf Club. NorthWood faces Elkhart Memorial and Northridge in league action tonight at Christiana Creek Country Club in Elkhart.
